On November 15, 2006, on his way to Miami … Abraham and a co-worker named Michael Ford stopped at a convenience store in Frostproof, FL. Ford grabbed some cigarettes and a soda pop … and Abraham plunked down two of the five dollars he had in his pocket, for a few lottery tickets. He bought a million-dollar home and a Rolex watch (albeit from a pawn shop) … and eased into the $17,000,000 dollars he’d chosen to receive as a lump sum option.

In October 2008, Shakespeare answered a call from a woman named Dee Dee Moore who explained she wanted to write a book about his life.

They ended up starting a business together and in short order, Dee Dee stole a million dollars. 14 months later … police unearthed Abraham’s body from under a freshly poured concrete slab at Dee Dee’s house.

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s current role? Absolutely nothing.
That said … the role we’re working on could be a real jackpot for the right individual.

Based from a home office in the Baltimore / DC area and reporting to the Director, Sales … the Account Executive will prospect, develop networks and secure new client relationships … focusing on permanent, live security surveillance in commercial businesses and remote sites (Live Video Monitoring, CCTV and Access Control)

The ideal candidate is definitely not a snake oil salesman and brings 5-7 years of successful sales experience, with a solid understanding of the condominium, commercial property, digital security or technology space.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prospect for new business opportunities by cold calling, direct marketing & via industry events
Ensure peak penetration by strategically managing their assigned territory
Work with clients to create tailored and effective security offerings
Full sales cycle responsibility through to managing client onboarding and installations
Manage existing client accounts + renewal and maintenance of contracts

REQUIREMENTS:

MUST HAVE: 5 to 7 years of B2B sales experience, selling technical services or products

THE ‘SNAKE OIL’ ROLE (OTE: $90,000 – $105,000 USD)

In 1854 … Clark Stanley was born in Abilene, Texas. He claimed that after a decade as a cowboy, he spent two years studying under a Hopi medicine man in Arizona. During his “apprenticeship”, Stanley claimed he was introduced to the unique, medicinal properties of snake oil.

Stanley soon began peddling his own version of Snake Oil Liniment at medicine shows across the Southwestern USA. A consummate showman … Stanley would stand before a gathered crowd … kill a few snakes and mix his potion. The mesmerized onlookers would inevitably open their wallets … paying 50 cents per bottle (equal to $15 in 2018).

He claimed his cure-all treated a laundry list of afflictions … from headaches to arthritis … to sciatica!
The “Rattlesnake King” eventually established production facilities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Short story shorter … in 1917 federal investigators seized a shipment of Stanley’s potion and determined it contained mineral oil, a fatty oil (likely beef fat), red pepper and turpentine … and not a single drop of snake oil!

Stanley was fined $20 for “misbranding” his product as a pain remedy and effectively disappeared from the public eye.

What does this have to do with our current role? Absolutely nothing.

In July 1999 … Andre Romelle Young (better known as … Dr. Dre) released “The Next Episode” (it was the third single, from his second studio album). The track featured Snoop Dogg, Kurupt and the late, Nate Dogg.

When it comes to the likelihood of an average golfer accomplishing a hole-in-one … the odds are 12,000 to 1.

So … what does this have to do with my latest role? Not much, really.
That said … Match and Fable’s latest search is based in Thompson, Manitoba.
For those of you who don’t know … the population of Thompson is about 13,000.
So … you could say we’re kinda looking for a “hole-in-one” on this search!

SUMMARY:

Our client is a global security company. They help their clients mitigate risk … allowing them to focus on their core service offering. We’re looking for an Operations Manager who will manage the local operation and P&L.

POSITION: OPERATIONS MANAGER
INDUSTRY: SECURITY (STATIC GUARDING)
LOCATION: THOMPSON, MANITOBA

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct responsibility for the security operations at a key client site
  • Develop and foster relationships with client while ensuring flawless operations
  • Manage work schedules to guarantee proper coverage of site
  • Recruit and train security guards, as required
  • Coach existing team of front line staff (3 to 4 employees)

THE ‘BLOODHOUND GANG’ ROLE (OTE: $144,000 – $180,000)

“Whenever there’s trouble … we’re there on the double … we’re the Bloodhound Gang.
If you’ve got the crime … we’ve got the time … we’re the Bloodhound Gang!”

Back in 1982 … The Bloodhound Gang was a mini-series that aired during the last 5 minutes of a PBS program called “3-2-1 Contact”.

It was about three clever teenagers who solved crimes, with the help of their knowledge of science.

My sister Manda and I would virtually kill ourselves racing home from grade school to catch the end of the show.

Each episode ended with a cliff-hanger, until the crime was miraculously solved!

Nothing was more frustrating than when a 3-2-1 Contact episode ran too long (usually on Fridays) and the announcer would say “The Bloodhound Gang will not be presented today”!  We were devastated that we’d have to wait an entire weekend to find out how the crime would be solved.

What does this have to do with my current role?
Well … nothing really.

That said … my client is in the investigations space … and they’re looking for a Director, Corporate Investigations to lead their own version of a Bloodhound Gang!

SUMMARY:

The Director, Corporate Investigations will grow the business while leading the Investigations Department.
