SUMMARY:     

Match and Fable takes great pride in being the “anti-recruiter, recruiter”. Our clients choose us because we deliver consistent results … and a great experience. Ultimately … we make our clients happy!

And … unlike the hordes of recruiters hiding behind laptops, blasting out mass emails to hundreds of random candidates and praying somebody ‘bites’ … we pick up the phone (with urgency) … and we headhunt!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Securing Clients – just like all other professional firms, headhunters need to find clients to service. As such, business development and networking are critical components of this role.
  • Finding Talent – once they have mandates to fill … headhunters use a variety of techniques to find and assess candidates. These include personal networking, social media and Boolean search.
  • Navigating the Interview Process – this involves candidate screening and presentations, interview scheduling and multiple ‘circlebacks’ with client and candidates, alike.


REQUIREMENTS: 

  • MUST: Business development experience.
  • MUST: The ability to assess fit of candidates versus client requirements.
  • MUST: Expert level organizational and time management skills.
  • MUST: Supreme, professional urgency in everything you do … (we aren’t looking for a Lazy Larry).
  • MUST: Self-discipline (the ability to work from a home office and ‘get the job done’).

THE ‘HERB BROOKS’ ROLE ($160,000 – $170,000+)


Herb Brooks

Born in St. Paul, Minnesota … Herb Brooks enjoyed a relatively successful career as a hockey player.

However … his name would be etched into history once he hung up his skates and took a position behind the bench.

On February 22, 1980 … in Lake Placid, New York, the team Brooks had fashioned from a patchwork of US college and other amateur players took the ice in a semi-final game against an all-star line up from the USSR.

His group of underdogs pulled off one of the most memorable upsets in the annals of ice hockey history … by defeating the Soviets by a score of 4-3 … in what is referred to as “The Miracle on Ice”.

When Jim McKay, (host of ABC’s Wide World of Sports) was asked to describe what viewers had just witnessed … he said … “That may be the greatest upset in sports history” adding that it was the equivalent of an all-star football team of Canadian college boys beating the Pittsburgh Steelers!

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?
Well … nothing, really!

That said … my client is looking for an equally strong leader to lead their sales team in in Eastern Canada!

POSITION:              DIRECTOR, SALES
REPORTS TO:         VICE-PRESIDENT, SALES
SCOPE:                     EASTERN CANADA (ONTARIO + QUEBEC + ATLANTIC)
OFFICE:                   HOME BASED (FROM GTA / HAMILTON)

SUMMARY:     

My client is a multi-national organization with incredible brand recognition!

Based from a home office and reporting to the VP, Sales … the Director will influence the development of the sales strategy and execute the plan to support business growth … while focusing on developing the Eastern Canadian division.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Director, Sales will assist in strategic planning and execution of sales and marketing initiatives to integrate sustainable growth within existing and emerging markets
  • Mentor, coach and develop the sales organization to perfect their selling skills and achieve targets
  • Set clear objectives … remove legitimate roadblocks … and lead the charge!
  • Analyze sales activity and determine action plans to capitalize on opportunities and increase profitability
  • Establish targets for the team … based on company objectives and develop a strategy to achieve same
  • Prioritize and direct daily, weekly and monthly objectives, including sales activities, to ensure execution
  • Develop & maintain positive & credible relationships with all levels, both internally & externally


REQUIREMENTS:
 

  • 5+ years in a sales management / leadership role
  • An additional 5+ years of sales experience (in progressive roles)
  • STRONG PREFERENCE: for experience in Commercial markets; (Industrial, Healthcare, Gov’t or Jan/San)
  • A university degree
  • Genuinely smart … with a desire to work in a client-centric environment
  • Strong leadership skills … a coach and motivator who can build relationships resulting in performance
  • Ability to travel … across Eastern Canada and to the USA (approximately 35%)


REMUNERATION:

BASE SALARY: $120,000 – $130,000
ON-TARGET MBO: $40,000 (uncapped)
ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $160,000 – $170,000 (uncapped + bonuses)
OTHER: car allowance + home office + benefits + some cool perks!

THE ‘3 DOLLAR PISTOL’ ROLE (OTE: $160,000 – $170,000+)

Admittedly … not a term heard often these days.
That is … unless you hang around Match and Fable’s offices!

One of its meanings refers to something being ‘hot’ … as in, attractive or desirable.
For example, “Match and Fable is hotter than a 3-dollar pistol”!

Where did the term originate?
Well … back in the mid-1800’s … gun manufacturers like; Remington, Smith & Wesson and Winchester were selling a boat load of pistols.

As is often the case … counterfeiters recognized an opportunity to capitalize on the opportunity and make a quick buck.

To keep their pistol prices super low … their manufacturing processes and standards were naturally, extremely shoddy.  Mismatched parts resulted in misaligned chambers and barrels … causing a slew of problems when fired!

In fact, in some cases … these pistols would actually explode in the shooter’s hand!

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?
Well … not much, really.

That said … this role is absolutely hotter than a 3-dollar pistol … and won’t last long!

THE ‘KRAMPUS’ ROLE (OTE: $165,000 – $180,000+)

KRAMPUS

As December rolls around in North America, children’s fascination with Christmas and Santa Claus is all a buzz!

But … as our children contemplate the gifts they’ll ask for from Santa … their counterparts in Eastern Europe are faced with a far different scenario.

On December 5th, before they hit the sheets … children place a boot outside their house. While they eagerly anticipate the arrival of St. Nicholas and his treats … they also fear a visit from the dreaded Krampus!

Essentially, Krampus is the Christmas Devil.
Half-goat … half-man, … this demon’s agenda ‘flips the script’ of Old St. Nick!
Krampus’ mission is to search out the naughty children and administer appropriate punishment.

In modest cases, this involves a ‘simple’ whipping with a wooden stick.
In more severe scenarios … Krampus is said to toss the worst children in his sack … dragging them to his lair … where he devours them for his Christmas Dinner!

Well … (and you probably guessed it) … absolutely nothing at all.

SUMMARY:

My client is a multi-national organization with one of the most recognized brands on the planet!
Based from a home office and reporting to the VP, Sales (Canada) … the National Director, Sales will influence the development of the overall sales strategy and execute the plan to support business growth … while focusing on further developing the sales organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guided by the company vision, the National Director, Sales will assist in strategic planning and execution of sales and marketing initiatives to integrate sustainable growth within existing and emerging markets
  • Mentor, coach and develop the sales organization to perfect their selling skills and achieve targets
  • Set clear objectives … remove legitimate roadblocks
  • Analyze sales activity and determine action plans to capitalize on opportunities and increase profitability
  • Establish targets for the team … based on company objectives and develop a strategy to achieve same
  • Prioritize and direct daily, weekly and monthly objectives, including sales activities, to ensure execution
  • Develop & maintain positive & credible relationships with all levels, both internally & externally


REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 5+ years in a senior sales management / leadership role (experience managing people leaders)
  • An additional 10+ years of sales experience in progressive roles
  • A university degree
  • Strong preference for candidates from Commercial markets such as; Industrial, Healthcare, Government or Jan/San
  • High energy and a desire to work in a results oriented, client-centric environment
  • Strong leadership skills … a coach, mentor, and motivator who can build relationships resulting in optimal performance levels
  • Ability to travel … Canada-wide approximately 25-30%


REMUNERATION:

BASE SALARY: $125,000 – $140,000
ON-TARGET MBO: $40,000 (uncapped)
ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $165,000 – $180,000 (uncapped + bonuses)
