THE ‘BREAK THE BANK’ ROLE (OTE: $92,000 – $105,000+)

BREAK THE BANK

In 1986 … Valerio Viccei fled Italy (as he was wanted for committing 50 armed robberies) and arrived in London England.

The following year, he and accomplice, Parvez Latif walked into the KSDC and asked to rent a safe deposit box.

Once inside the vault, the men pulled out their pistols and overpowered the bank manager and his guards.

They hung a ‘closed’ sign on the front door while ushering a few more accomplices into the bank.

Ransacking the vault … the thieves fled with an estimated £60 million (nearly $200 million USD by today’s standards).  Viccei then proceeded to hop on a plane headed for South America … with his riches in tow!

While in South America, Viccei began to pine over the Ferrari Testarossa he had left behind in England and decided to return and make arrangements to ship it to his new home.

Needless to say … not the best idea he ever had.

Upon returning to the UK, he was identified … captured … arrested … and sentenced to 22 years in jail!

Long story short … he was deported to Italy in 1992 to serve out the rest of his sentence.

In April 2000 … while on a day pass from prison … he was killed in a gunfight with police.

THE ‘DYNAMITE’ ROLE (OTE: $135,000 – $144,000)

MF SIGN - HATE TO TELL YOU - THIS BABY'S GONE

While the words ‘dynamite’ and ‘TNT’ are often used interchangeably … they are absolutely not the same thing!

Back in the 1860’s … Alfred Nobel (a Swedish chemist and engineer) was hard at work … searching for an alternative to nitroglycerine (as it is incredibly volatile).

Nobel’s objective was to create a stable product that wouldn’t blow people to smithereens by simply handling it! By combining nitroglycerin, sorbents and stabilizers … Alfred created dynamite!

(Interestingly … an explosion at his plant killed his brother … so maybe it wasn’t that safe … after all?)

TNT, on the other hand … was discovered by Joseph Wilbrand in Germany in 1863.
It is made by adding 3 NO2 groups (from nitric acid) to toluene.

And, while TNT isn’t as powerful as dynamite … it is far more stable and difficult to ignite … making it a safer (albeit, more toxic) option!

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?

His ‘thing’ was motorcycle jumping … and his New Year’s Eve stunt in 1967 put him ‘on the map’ … the world over.

THE ‘EXECUTIONER’ ROLE – UX DESIGNER ($65,000 – $85,000)

SIGN - MISSED OPPORTUNITY

In the late 1700’s, in Roscommon, Ireland lived a woman named Betty, and her son. Although she was despairingly poor, Betty was literate … and she taught her son to read and write.

She would constantly remind her son that only money could bring him happiness in this world … and when he was finally old enough … she encouraged him to leave Ireland … and earn his fortunes in America!

Years later, a well-dressed man, looking for a place to say …  knocked at Betty’s door. She opened her home to him, and later that night … as he lay sleeping … Betty crept into his room and plunged a knife into his heart!

As she rummaged through his belongings (looking for money), she discovered this man was, in fact, her son!

Overcome with the horror of her actions, Betty stumbled into the street … confessing her guilt. She was arrested, stood trial and was condemned to death – by hanging!

On the day of her execution … as Betty and several other criminals were being led into the yard … they were informed the executioner had “called in sick” … and the sheriff was refusing to execute them himself.

Seizing the opportunity … Betty asked that her life be spared and in return, she’d hang the prisoners herself!

The sheriff agreed and Betty immediately got to work. So capable was “Lady Betty” that she was appointed Roscommon’s Official Hang Woman … a job with a yearly salary … as well room and board!

If you asked 100 people who Stan Smith was … maybe 10% could identify him correctly.
You likely have a pair of his sneakers in your house … but have no idea what his story is.

Stan was a professional tennis player from 1971 – 1985 … and his story, is absolutely wonderful!

As a young boy, Stan applied for a job as a ‘ball boy’ for the Davis Cup (the premier international team event in men’s tennis).  After assessing him … Davis Cup organizers concluded he was far too clumsy and uncoordinated to chase after stray tennis balls … and rejected his application.

THE ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA’ ROLE – (OTE: $130,000 – $135,000+)

TOO LATE SIGN

With our great country turning 150 years old this year … Match and Fable dubbed this role … The HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA role.

Now … truth be told … we briefly considered calling it ‘The Sesquicentennial’ … but that sounded like garbage!

Most people don’t know how Confederation in Canada actually came to be.
So … let Match and Fable drop a little knowledge on you.

Back in the 1860’s, the British colonies were facing a whack of political and economic challenges. To make a bad situation worse … Britain had supported the South in the American Civil War.

Needless to say, with the North emerging victorious … many Americans believed they should head northward and take over the British colonies (that would be us).

Since Britain was unwilling to assume the cost of defense … they encouraged the colonies to band together.  The rationale was, the USA would be less inclined to attack a self-governed country than a bunch of small, British colonies.

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role? Nothing, really.
That said … our client is looking for a sales professional to focus on selling into government ministries.
