THE ‘UNSINKABLE’ ROLE (OTE: $115,000+)

The daughter of Irish immigrants … Violet Jessop was born and raised in Argentina.
Upon her father’s death … her family returned to England.
Soon after, her mother took ill … and Violet left school to become a stewardess.

She eventually accepted a position with a British shipping company … called White Star.
In 1911 … the ship Violet was working on (The Olympic), collided with a British warship – HMS Hawke. No one was seriously injured in the collision.

On April 10, 1912, 24 year-old Jessop boarded the infamous RMS Titanic!
Four days later …  the Titanic struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic … sinking within 2 hours.
1,503 people died … while 705 people survived – and among the survivors, was, Miss. Violet Jessop.

Believe it or not, Violet continued her employment with White Star and … on November 21, 1916, as the HMHS Britannic was floating in the Aegean Sea … an explosion rocked the ship – sinking it in a mere, 55 minutes.
30 people died … while 1,066 people survived – and among the survivors was none other than, Violet Jessop!

Undeterred by her brushes with death … Violet continued to work as a stewardess on various ships. All in all … she would spend 42 years at sea, retiring to her cottage in Suffolk … and passing at the age of 83.

THE ‘FEVER’ ROLE (OTE: $125,000 – $140,000+)

In 1847 … as Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis was working in a maternity clinic in Vienna, Austria … he noticed a trend – mothers who were giving birth … were dying at an shocking rate!

The establishment was baffled and attributed the deaths to an ailment they dubbed – “childbed fever”.

Semmelweis was intent on solving the mystery and began investigating the differences between the hospital’s two maternity wards. He discovered that women treated in the doctors’ ward were dying 5X more than those in the midwives’ clinic!

Dr. Semmelweis surmised the difference between the two groups was … the doctors were conducting autopsies, as well as delivering babies. Often, these doctors moved straight from one procedure to the next.

Clearly … they were spreading infection from dead bodies to their maternity ward patients!

To halt transmission … Semmelweis introduced disinfection procedures.
Upon implementing simple policies mandating maternity wards be kept clean, and doctors wash their hands … the rate of “childbed fever” dropped significantly!

Despite proving disinfection reduced mortality to less than 1% … his technique was snubbed by most doctors, as they considered it insulting to require them to wash their hands!

In the end …  the endless criticism from his peers led to Dr. Semmelweis suffering a nervous breakdown – landing him in a mental asylum … where he eventually died in 1865.

Ironically, it’s widely believed he died of sepsis, the same thing that killed all the women on the maternity ward!

THE ‘BRASS TACKS’ ROLE (OTE: $107,500)

The saying “getting down to brass tacks” has a number of suggested origins – (some more popular than others).

These include; the brass tacks found on fine furniture … Cockney rhyming slang for the term “hard facts” … and the brass tacks that were hammered into a sales counter – to mark precise measuring points.

A less known theory involves the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
Following Lincoln’s death … the undertaker, R.F. Harvey and his employees were asked to design the President’s coffin – using silver tacks as decoration.

(Having to open the screen door wasted precious seconds … increasing the odds of getting caught.)

THE ‘ALCATRAZ’ ROLE (OTE: $110,000 – $125,000 USD)

At 9:40am on August 11, 1934 … America’s infamous Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary opened its doors to 137 prisoners.

The prison had been designed to hold “the worst of the worst” – criminals who regularly caused problems at other federal prisons and were considered to have no hope of rehabilitating.

In nearly 30 years of operation … 36 inmates made a total of 14 escape attempts.
Of those convicts … 23 were apprehended, 6 were shot dead … and 2 drowned.
The remaining 5 went missing … presumed to have drowned.

In 1962, Frank Morris and brothers John and Clarence Anglin, attempted the most renowned breakout from the facility.

With sharpened spoons … the trio chipped away at rotting concrete walls. They fashioned decoy heads (complete with locks of hair from the prison barbershop) … and strategically placed them in their beds, to fool the guards.

Their possessions were eventually found floating in the San Francisco Bay … but their bodies were never actually recovered! Some may speculate they may have been successful in their escape … but it’s extremely doubtful.

THE ‘JOHNNY CASH’ ROLE (OTE: $75,000 – $85,000+)

One of seven children … J.R. Cash was born in Arkansas on February 26, 1932 and grew up on the family farm. His family made a living working in the cotton fields … a job Johnny was introduced to at the age of 5!

46 years later (following significant financial success as a country singer) … Johnny had built the “House of Cash” on a farm 25 miles outside of Nashville – where he kept exotic animals.

The winter of 1981 was particularly harsh and as such … Johnny decided he needed to move his animals into shelters to help them survive. As Johnny approached his 7-foot ostrich named Waldo, it was clear the bird was not in a good mood.

As he stepped up to the bird … Waldo jumped into the air and delivered a vicious kick … splitting Johnny’s stomach wide-open. The force of the kick broke 5 of his ribs and resulted in significant internal bleeding.

What does this have to with Match and Fable’s latest role?
Well, nothing really.

That said … now that we have your attention … we’d like to tell you about the Account Executive role with one of our clients.  And, don’t worry … there is no ‘Waldo’ to contend with in this role!

POSITION:                ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE
REPORTS TO:           SALES MANAGER
TERRITORY:             BRANTFORD + NIAGARA + OAKVILLE + K/W

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Account Executive is responsible for increasing revenue with existing clients and uncovering new business opportunities … while selling a suite of service offerings within a designated territory. The split between new business development and account management is 60% / 40%.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Target & secure new business revenue within the territory … (the hunting part of the role)
  • Penetrate existing clients to develop relationships and increase “share of wallet” … (the farming part)
  • Utilize a proven and repeatable sales process
  • Direct the sales process and work with internal departments to drive progress


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 to 5 years of successful outside sales experience in a similar role
  • Strong negotiation abilities and proficiency dealing with prospective and existing clients
  • The ability to dollarize solutions and demonstrate R.O.I. to a client
  • Successful experience in selling value (… & not just lip service)


REMUNERATION:

BASE SALARY: $45,000 – $55,000
ON-TARGET VARIABLE: $30,000 (uncapped)
ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $75,000 – $85,000
OTHER: car allowance + benefits
