His real passion though … was archery.

THE ‘ALCATRAZ’ ROLE (OTE: $110,000 – $125,000 USD)

At 9:40am on August 11, 1934 … America’s infamous Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary opened its doors to 137 prisoners.

The prison had been designed to hold “the worst of the worst” – criminals who regularly caused problems at other federal prisons and were considered to have no hope of rehabilitating.

In nearly 30 years of operation … 36 inmates made a total of 14 escape attempts.
Of those convicts … 23 were apprehended, 6 were shot dead … and 2 drowned.
The remaining 5 went missing … presumed to have drowned.

In 1962, Frank Morris and brothers John and Clarence Anglin, attempted the most renowned breakout from the facility.

With sharpened spoons … the trio chipped away at rotting concrete walls. They fashioned decoy heads (complete with locks of hair from the prison barbershop) … and strategically placed them in their beds, to fool the guards.

Their possessions were eventually found floating in the San Francisco Bay … but their bodies were never actually recovered! Some may speculate they may have been successful in their escape … but it’s extremely doubtful.

One of seven children … J.R. Cash was born in Arkansas on February 26, 1932 and grew up on the family farm. His family made a living working in the cotton fields … a job Johnny was introduced to at the age of 5!

THE ‘EXECUTIONER’ ROLE ($97,000 – $108,000)

In the late 1700’s, in Roscommon, Ireland … a woman named Betty and her son lived in horrible poverty.  Although uncommon for someone raised in such conditions, Betty was literate … so she taught her son to read and write. For those brazen enough to attempt a casino heist … the results are almost always fruitless.  And, while many elaborate schemes have been hatched over the years … very, very few have resulted in a prosperous haul.

That said … Bill Brennan, a clean-cut 34-year-old from Pennsylvania … is the exception to that rule … and the simplicity of his plan left both security and police detectives scratching their heads!

On September 22, 1992, Mr. Brennan reported to work as a floor cashier at the Stardust Casino in Las Vegas … just as he had been doing for the previous 4 years.

As usual, Bill worked the first half of his shift but … when his lunch break rolled around, he grabbed his gym bag (filled with $500,000) … strolled past security … out the front door … and for all intents and purposes … vanished from the face of the earth!

What does this have to with Match and Fable’s role?

POSITION:                PURCHASING SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO:           OPERATIONS MANAGER
TERRITORY:             WOODBRIDGE, ON
INDUSTRY:               HOME BUILDING / HARDWARE SUPPLIES

SUMMARY:

Our client is a national retailer of quality hardware for cabinetry, in the home building and design space. Based from a GTA office and reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for all the North American purchasing of the company, including inventory control.

This role requires an individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the leadership to be both proactive and reactive in the day-to-day procurement capacity.
Someone who has the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate between the various groups of the business and manage all of the purchasing and inventory control tasks, required to keep the business operations flowing.

You’ll be the “go-to” person for all affairs regarding purchases and inventory so leadership qualities are a must!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle all the North American purchasing duties of the organization
  • Collaborate and communicate between warehouse, showroom and other company groups on delivery ETA’s, scheduling, etc …
  • Maintain accurate data in the ERP system
  • Manage all inbound shipments and receiving orders
  • Inventory control duties; cycle counting and verifying ERP to actual warehouse items


REQUIREMENTS:

  • MUST HAVE: 5+ years’ experience in purchasing/procurement
  • A post-secondary diploma/degree
  • Strong communication, collaboration, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experienced in working with ERP systems
  • BIG PLUS: Experience in purchasing/procurement in a distribution environment
  • BONUS: Experience working with the Profit 21 ERP system, specifically


REMUNERATION:

BASE SALARY: $55,000 – $65,000
BONUS POTENTIAL: $500 – $2,000
ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $55,500 – $67,000

THE ‘LAUNCHING PAD’ ROLE (OTE: $50,000 – $66,000+)

On March 23, 1965 … Gus Grissom and John Young blasted-off into space on the Gemini III capsule.

One of their objectives was to determine how astronauts could eat … ‘mess-free’ during space missions.

Apparently … the hazards of crumbs in space are substantial … as they can drift through the cabin and lodge themselves inside critical instrument panels. As such … the food on the Gemini III was humdrum … to say the least … consisting of squeezy tubes and small, plastic packages.

Unbeknownst to Grissom … one of John Young’s colleagues had stopped at a local deli to pick-up a Corned Beef on Rye. 2 hours into the mission … Young pulled the sandwich from his pocket … and handed it to Grissom.

After the first bite … they soon realized the resulting crumbs were not favourable in zero-gravity conditions! Needless to say, neither NASA nor Congress were amused. Young was severely reprimanded … and extensive regulations were put in place for future missions!

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?
Absolutely nothing!

That said … just as a space shuttle requires a solid launching pad … so too does a sales career … and this role is the perfect launching pad for a sales professional looking to venture down this path!

INDUSTRY:               MARKETING / ADVERTISING

SUMMARY:

Our client is a well-oiled team of professional, energetic and goal-oriented individuals who help clients develop and execute pin-point marketing strategies. The data and tools at the sales person’s disposal is truly top-shelf!

Based in your respective territory … you will seek out clients and help them with their marketing strategies.

This role involves short-term sales activity with a 1 to 2-month sales cycle and the ability to develop and implement long-term strategies to ensure client retention and continue building future business relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and build account relationships with key decision makers – across all departments
  • Achieve sales targets for new business and renewals
  • Develop unique strategies (short and long term) to meet the goals of clients in your territory
  • Live and exude the company’s core values


REQUIREMENTS: 

  • MUST HAVE: 6 months to 1 year of sales experience (inside or outside sales)
  • MUST HAVE: Valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Capable of achieving targets via self-motivation, tenacity and determination

REMUNERATION:

BASE SALARY: $33,000 – $36,000
ON-TARGET VARIABLE: $18,000 – $30,000
ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $50,000 – $66,000 (uncapped)
OTHER: car allowance + vacation + benefits
