In 1895, Tillie Gburek married John Mitkiewicz. 19 years later, John died from an apparent heart condition. Tillie’s next husband, Joseph Ruskowski also died … as did her next boyfriend.

Tillie’s third husband was Frank Kupczyk. Tillie would greet Frank in the morning, saying “it won’t be long now” … “you’ll be dying soon”.

As Frank’s health began to deteriorate … Tillie began knitting herself a mourning hat … and even purchased a bargain coffin – which she stored in their basement!

Upon Kupczyk’s death, Tillie remarried, for a fourth time. And, as you’re probably thinking, this husband (Frank Klimek) also fell ill.

But this time … doctors suspected arsenic poisoning, and lab tests confirmed it!

As Tillie was being arrested, she turned to the police officer and said …”the next one I want to cook a dinner for, is you”.

The bodies of all of Tillie’s past victims were exhumed … and each was found to contain lethal doses of arsenic. Tillie’s “weapon of choice” had been a rat poison called – Rough On Rats!

Following her arrest, it was discovered that; 20 people had fallen ill after dining at Tillie’s table (14 of whom had died) and Tillie, newly nicknamed, “the Poison Widow” … had life insurance policies on all of her husbands!

PS: After 3 months in the hospital … Joseph Klimek actually survived!

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?

POSITION:                QUALITY AND COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO:           DIRECTOR OF QUALITY ASSURANCE / REGULATORY AFFAIRS
LOCATION:               ETOBICOKE
INDUSTRY:                MEDICAL DEVICE

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of QA / RA … the Quality and Compliance Specialist will ensure operational processes are in accordance with the Quality Management System and the organization’s compliance department.

This individual will assist with the overall quality and regulatory processes and ensure all documentation is updated, as per Health Canada and FDA guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Update and organize procedures and documentation, as per organizational guidelines
  • Develop and update SOP’s and work instructions, as necessary
  • Assist with updating product labelling and packaging artwork documentation
  • Maintain and support the requirements of the Quality Management Systems
  • Provide assistance to the Director QA / RA
  • Perform other projects, as required


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4 years’ experience in quality assurance or quality control – in the medical device industry
  • Will consider candidates from related industry (food processing, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or GMP)
  • MUST HAVE: University degree in a science related discipline
  • Experience managing Quality Systems and processing change controls
  • Sound working knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Familiar with ISO 13485 and Health Canada Medical Device Guidelines, preferred


REMUNERATION:

BASE SALARY: $75,000 – $80,000

Wherever you turn, you’re reminded of what has quickly become … the ‘flavour of the season’.

And, while this craze may have started with lattes … over the past few years … it has quickly spread to include; biscotti, yogurt, granola and even popcorn spice … to name only a few.

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?
Nothing at all.

That said, we figured the title would get your attention … and that’s what we’re in the business of doing – right?

SUMMARY

Our client has been in the health, wellness and nutrition industry for decades. They’ve helped countless clients achieve lasting weight loss by providing personal health coaching using natural health products and nutritional consulting.

Focusing on their online e-commerce business and providing many services via phone, email or mobile app; the business is now in need of a talented Sales Manager to help take them to the next level!

Based from offices in the Mississauga / Etobicoke area, the Sales Manager will lead, manage and mentor the sales team. In conjunction with the Marketing group, the Sales Manager will oversee the entire Health and Wellness Centre; dealing with Distributors, creating B2B + B2C sales plans … and improving overall client satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive revenue opportunities by overseeing the development and implementation of sales initiatives, including campaigns, incentives and contests
  • Responsible for achievement of sales performance, creating team ‘vibe’ and maintaining a motivated environment
  • Monitor and enhance performance of Health Coaches, ensuring elite customer service, following up on leads, as well as managing retail & weight loss clientele
  • Analyze sales and customer data via the company’s telecommunications and e-commerce platforms; identifying trends and implementing actions plans based on this data
  • Work with Marketing and Health Coaches to implement strategies and develop sales promotions and SOP’s
  • Strategize and train the Health Coaches to effectively sell programs, products and convert leads to sales
  • Manage customer service inquires and lead generation initiatives
  • Create sales budgets based on expectations and sales targets of Health Coaches


REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years’ experience in a sales manager role … preferably within the Nutrition or Weight Loss industry
  • Natural leadership abilities and proven success in achieving / exceeding revenue goals
  • Skilled at developing high achieving sales teams within a relationship-based sales and service environment
  • Superior influencing, coaching and presentation skills + flawless oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of sales management … including sales incentives and compensation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review / summarize sales data (clients, order value, products, geography)
  • Proficient in MS Office

THE ‘SHEEP FEET’ ROLE (OTE: $63,250)

As the story goes, the world’s first restaurant opened in Paris, in 1765.
Mr. Boulanger … (a soup salesman, turned tavern keeper) opened its doors with a single-item on the menu – sheep’s feet simmered in white sauce!

Unlike other food-type businesses operating at the time, such as taverns (alcohol) and cafes (coffee) … his business focused on food. Naturally, the idea of ‘going out to eat’ was a foreign notion – as people had always eaten meals at home.

Here’s the real interesting part; Boulanger claimed his special dish would restore people’s health.
And … it just so happens, the French word for restore is, restaurer.
You can thank us later … but, now you know how the word ‘restaurant’ came to be!

By the way … a local food union sued Boulanger for infringing on their right to sell cooked food. The union ended up losing their case … and the years that followed saw restaurants pop up … all across the country.

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?
Not much, really.

That said, just yesterday … one of our favourite clients called Mark Vandyke to explain they’re in massive growth mode.  They need 5 (… yup, we just said, five) Restaurant Managers for their rapidly expanding operations.

SALARY: $55,000
BONUS: $8,250 (paid quarterly)
