The daughter of Irish immigrants … Violet Jessop was born and raised in Argentina.
Upon her father’s death … her family returned to England.

THE ‘SCRATCH’ ROLE (OTE: $75,000 – $86,000+)

The Scratch Role

In 1999, Bill Morgan, an Australian truck driver, was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident – and luckily … he survived! Unfortunately, he experienced an extreme, allergic reaction to the medication he was given … resulting in a massive heart attack!

Medical staff successfully revived Bill … but having been clinically dead for 14 minutes (and still lying in a coma) … doctors feared his brain damage would be too severe … and recommended he be removed from life support.

His family refused to “pull the plug” … and 12 days later, Bill woke up … feeling completely fine!

He quit driving trucks … found a new job … and asked his girlfriend to marry him – and she accepted.

THE ‘FEVER’ ROLE (OTE: $125,000 – $140,000+)

In 1847 … as Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis was working in a maternity clinic in Vienna, Austria … he noticed a trend – mothers who were giving birth … were dying at an shocking rate!

The establishment was baffled and attributed the deaths to an ailment they dubbed – “childbed fever”.

Semmelweis was intent on solving the mystery and began investigating the differences between the hospital’s two maternity wards. He discovered that women treated in the doctors’ ward were dying 5X more than those in the midwives’ clinic!

Dr. Semmelweis surmised the difference between the two groups was … the doctors were conducting autopsies, as well as delivering babies. Often, these doctors moved straight from one procedure to the next.

Clearly … they were spreading infection from dead bodies to their maternity ward patients!

To halt transmission … Semmelweis introduced disinfection procedures.
Upon implementing simple policies mandating maternity wards be kept clean, and doctors wash their hands … the rate of “childbed fever” dropped significantly!

Despite proving disinfection reduced mortality to less than 1% … his technique was snubbed by most doctors, as they considered it insulting to require them to wash their hands!

In the end …  the endless criticism from his peers led to Dr. Semmelweis suffering a nervous breakdown – landing him in a mental asylum … where he eventually died in 1865.

Ironically, it’s widely believed he died of sepsis, the same thing that killed all the women on the maternity ward!

OPERATION MINCEMEAT (OTE: $58,000 – $63,000)

In 1943, as World War II was in full effect … Allied Forces were formulating a plan to attack Sicily.

To increase their odds of success, they decided to try and dupe the Nazis into believing they were, in fact heading towards Greece and Sardinia.

They took the body of a gentleman, named Glyndwr Michael … (who had died from ingesting rat poison) and planted fake, ‘top-secret’ papers in his pockets. These papers detailed the Allied Forces’ plan to attack Greece and Sardinia.

And, to make things appear even more legit … they also planted a photo of a fake girlfriend in, for good measure!

They placed the corpse into the water and let it float to an area near Spain where a Nazi agent came across it.

The plan worked perfectly … and Sicily was liberated far more quickly than anticipated … with fewer casualties than expected.

THE ‘BEE’S KNEES’ ROLE ($70,000+)

The phrase “the bee’s knees” gained popularity in the 1920’s.
No one really knows, how the term came to be.

Some claim it has to do with the fact that as a bee travels from flower to flower (then, back to the hive) … it carries pollen on its legs. Naturally … the sweetness of that pollen is collected around their knees.

Others maintain it stems from the phrase ‘the Be all, and End all’ … which, when shortened and said quickly … sounds like you’re saying the phrase … “the B’s ‘n’ E’s”.

In any event … while we don’t know the origin … we do know it stands for something which is highly regarded.

What does this have to do with our latest role?
Well … nothing at all!

That said … now that we have your attention … our client is in expansion mode … and they’ve asked Match and Fable’s Mark Vandyke to help them find a Sales Executive for their GTA region.

POSITION:             SALES EXECUTIVE
REPORTS TO:       DIRECTOR, SALES
LOCATION:           MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO
INDUSTRY:            HOSPITALITY / FOOD SERVICE

SUMMARY:

Our client is a direct distributor … catering to all sectors of the hospitality industry.
Their portfolio, (which is extensive and unique) … is also exclusive!
This allows them to offer their clientele, ultra-competitive pricing on high-end products.

As a result of business growth … they need to add to their sales team … with a new Sales Executive!

Best part is … they aren’t necessarily set on candidates who’ve been selling in this space.
In fact … they’re very interested in individuals with hospitality experience (in any capacity) … looking to leverage their knowledge and network in a lucrative sales capacity!

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage multiple accounts … and be “the face” of the organization
  • Achieve sales targets and goals via new business development
  • Build new business relationships, utilizing existing industry contacts
  • Conduct sales presentations to prospective clientele
  • Manage existing client relationships by providing superb service and support
  • Provide feedback re; market conditions and suggestions for improvement, to senior management
  • Ensure company is aware of all competitive activities within accounts … and prevent attrition


REQUIREMENTS:

  • MUST HAVE: A drive for excellence in product familiarization and presentation
  • MUST HAVE: 3 years’ experience in hospitality environment (not necessarily in a sales capacity)
  • Able to work at an efficient pace … while managing multiple clients + priorities

REMUNERATION:

BASE SALARY: $45,000
ON-TARGET VARIABLE: $30,000
ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $75,000

THE ‘LIGHTNING STRIKES’ ROLE (OTE: $85,000 – $90,000)

If you live to be 80 years old … your odds of being struck by lightning once, are roughly 1 in 12,000. The odds of being struck twice? Well, now you’re looking at about 1 in 9,000,000!

However, in the case of Roy Cleveland Sullivan … these odds did not apply!

Now, while you’ve likely never heard of Mr. Sullivan … his story is truly unbelievable!
Sullivan served as a US Park Ranger at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.
Over the span of 35 years (1942 to 1977) … Roy was struck by lightning – a total of 7 different times.

And … as improbable as it was … he lived to tell each tale!

Sadly … while he managed to survive 7 bolts of lightning … he ultimately met his demise by virtue of a self-inflicted gun-shot wound.

So … what does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?
Nothing really.

That said … if you’ve got what it takes to perform in this role … you may have just caught lightning in a bottle!

SUMMARY:

Our client is looking for an Inside Sales Executive for their Markham office. You must be an ‘A’ player … with both personality and ambition … as well as the desire to make a real impact on the business.

POSITION:        INSIDE SALES EXECUTIVE
REPORTS TO:   DIRECTOR, SALES
OFFICE:             MARKHAM

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage inbound client enquiries via phone and email (50%)
  • Proactively target a list of accounts to promote the company’s offering via outbound sales (20%)
  • Receive and process orders while updating Salesforce CRM, to document interactions (15%)
  • Process invoices and issue credits & co-ordinate, track and expedite deliveries (15%)
  • Maintain current clientele with a keen focus on expanding the business
  • Grow relationships with key vendors, by delivering an optimum client experience
  • Qualify prospects via needs analysis / needs-based selling
  • Provide highest level of customer service and represent company at trade shows and industry functions
  • Perform some outside sales activities


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years’ inside sales experience
  • Proven track record of successful inside sales experience
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to sell strategically
  • Top-notch verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM
  • A naturally persuasive personality … with the ability to build rapport
  • Ability to travel to client locations and industry events (10% – 20% travel required)
  • Self-motivated, ambitious and goal-oriented

REMUNERATION:

BASE SALARY: $55,000 – $60,000
ON-TARGET VARIABLE: $30,000 (uncapped)
ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $85,000 – $90,000
OTHER: excellent benefits + cellphone + rrsp
