THE ‘DONNA’ ROLE – ($40,000 – $45,000)

Position Filled Logo

Does the name Donna Paulsen mean anything to you?
If not … she’s a fictional character on the popular TV series – Suits.
Donna plays Harvey Specter’s highly capable … ultra-organized … and exceptionally effective legal assistant.

(Technically … she was promoted to COO this season … but that’s beside the point.)

Donna never sacrifices quality in order to scratch a ‘to-do’ off her list.
She’s process oriented … with an urgency that has her constantly contemplating what more she can do to ‘advance the cause’!

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?
Nothing really.
That said … while Donna is not a ‘real’ person … our client is looking to hire ‘a real-life Donna’ at their law firm!

SUMMARY:

Let’s face it … when you’re starting your career, it’s not easy to find a job.
When you do … you may find yourself working for a tyrannical boss and surrounded by a bunch of lunatics.

So … the question begs … why would you want to work for my client’s law firm?
Well … I could go on and on about the merits of this group but you’ll see for yourself … within minutes of meeting them!

POSITION:       OFFICE ASSISTANT
LOCATION:      DOWNTOWN TORONTO (7 MINUTE WALK FROM UNION STATION)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide phenomenal administrative support to all members of the firm.
Now, we realize ‘administrative support’ is a broad term … but that’s absolutely by design.

The individual selected for this role will be truly be the ‘cog in the wheel’ of the firm.
The responsibilities of the Office Assistant are practically too many to even list!
The essence of the role is to support the firm in every facet of their business.
The attitude required is … ‘no job is too big or too small’.

You don’t need to be a legal secretary … you simply need to the right work ethic!

Here’s just a ‘taste’ of what you’ll be doing;

  • Maintain the filing system (opening, updating and closing of files)
  • Prepare files and documentation for calls and client meetings
  • Make travel arrangements, restaurant reservations and manage calendars
  • Prepare first drafts of correspondence and documents
  • Prepare billing statements
  • Schedule client calls and meetings
  • Database Management

Approximately 1 or 2 years of experience in a similar type of office-based support role
Wicked attention to detail!
A ridiculous sense of urgency … and creativity
The ability to ‘get the job done’ … period

THE ‘BIG POPPA’ ROLE

Position Filled Logo

At the age of 15, Chris Wallace was pushing drugs on the streets of New York City.
Seven years later … the 6’ 3”, 300-pound rapper (also known as; Biggie Smalls, Notorious B.I.G. & Big Poppa), released Ready to Die … cementing his legendary place in Hip Hop history!

What you may not know is … this was the only album Biggie would release, during his lifetime.

I won’t go into the misfortunes that weaved their way through his life … but I will point out he was one of the main players in Hip Hop’s East Coast -vs- West Coast rivalry.
A feud that would eventually lead to his murder in March 1997!

THE ‘MONKEY IN THE MIDDLE’ ROLE

Position Filled Logo

One of the first games we learned to play as children was … ‘Monkey in the Middle’.
Not the most exciting game in the world … but the rules were pretty straight forward.

One unlucky ‘sucker’ stood in the middle of a group of other kids and tried to intercept a ball.

When they did … the kid who had touched the ball last, assumed the position of the ‘monkey’.

More often than not …. if a ‘round’ took more than a few minutes … (and it usually did) … the kid in the middle would usually just give up … and we’d all go play road hockey, instead.

What does this have to do with my latest role?
Well … nothing really.

That said, on this mandate … I’m looking for someone who is gifted at dealing with middlemen … and has a knack for creating lasting impressions with people.

THE ‘BLOODHOUND GANG’ ROLE (OTE: $144,000 – $180,000)

Position Filled Logo

“Whenever there’s trouble … we’re there on the double … we’re the Bloodhound Gang.
If you’ve got the crime … we’ve got the time … we’re the Bloodhound Gang!”

Back in 1982 … The Bloodhound Gang was a mini-series that aired during the last 5 minutes of a PBS program called “3-2-1 Contact”.

It was about three clever teenagers who solved crimes, with the help of their knowledge of science.

My sister Manda and I would virtually kill ourselves racing home from grade school to catch the end of the show.

Each episode ended with a cliff-hanger, until the crime was miraculously solved!

Nothing was more frustrating than when a 3-2-1 Contact episode ran too long (usually on Fridays) and the announcer would say “The Bloodhound Gang will not be presented today”!  We were devastated that we’d have to wait an entire weekend to find out how the crime would be solved.

What does this have to do with my current role?
Well … nothing really.

THE ‘SALT’ ROLE (OTE: $87,500 – $102,500+)

Position Filled Logo

Salt is essential for human life … and back in the old days, salt was the primary method of food preservation.
(Some may argue, salt is also essential for a night of tequila drinking – but that’s beside the point!)

On another note … to be ‘worth one’s salt’ means to be worth one’s pay.
In fact, the word ‘salary’ comes from the Latin word, salarium.
Apparently … ‘salarium’ was the money paid to Roman soldiers for the purchase of salt.

What does this have to do with my latest role? Not much, really.
That said … my client is looking for a hunter sales professional who is ‘worth their salt’ and looking for  a new business development role.
By the way … the company won’t try and pay you with salt!

THE ‘DONNIE BRASCO’ ROLE – (OTE: $75,000+)

Position Filled Logo

Joe Pistone was born September 17, 1939 in Erie, Pennsylvania but for the most part …. grew up in Paterson, New Jersey.

He joined the FBI in 1969 and since he knew how to drive an 18-wheeler, he was assigned to the truck hijacking squad.

Joe’s ability to penetrate this crime ring led to the arrest of more than 30 criminals and, more importantly … demonstrated his potential effectiveness for his next mission.

In September 1976, Pistone exited his local FBI office and ‘vanished’ for six years!
Long story short … under the alias of Donnie Brasco … he successfully infiltrated the New York Mafia’s Bonanno Family.
His involvement led directly to 200 indictments and more than 100 convictions.

What does this have to do with our current role? – Nothing really.
