The consummate athlete … he excelled at football, baseball and basketball while attending Auburn University.

His real passion though … was archery.
Often referred to as the “World’s Greatest Archer” … Howard is the only person to ever win 196 archery tournaments, in a row.

He also set a world record for the furthest flight shot – at just over 357 meters!

Having hunted and killed more than 2,000 animals with his long bow … Howard’s biggest achievement was becoming the first white man to kill an elephant with a bow and arrow.

THE ‘ALCATRAZ’ ROLE (OTE: $110,000 – $125,000 USD)

At 9:40am on August 11, 1934 … America’s infamous Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary opened its doors to 137 prisoners.

The prison had been designed to hold “the worst of the worst” – criminals who regularly caused problems at other federal prisons and were considered to have no hope of rehabilitating.

In nearly 30 years of operation … 36 inmates made a total of 14 escape attempts.
Of those convicts … 23 were apprehended, 6 were shot dead … and 2 drowned.
The remaining 5 went missing … presumed to have drowned.

In 1962, Frank Morris and brothers John and Clarence Anglin, attempted the most renowned breakout from the facility.

With sharpened spoons … the trio chipped away at rotting concrete walls. They fashioned decoy heads (complete with locks of hair from the prison barbershop) … and strategically placed them in their beds, to fool the guards.

Their possessions were eventually found floating in the San Francisco Bay … but their bodies were never actually recovered! Some may speculate they may have been successful in their escape … but it’s extremely doubtful.

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?

These days … in the world of Hip Hop, deliberately dropping one’s microphone is a fairly common event.

But it wasn’t always that way. In fact … only the truest of hip-hop fans could identify the pioneer of this “move” as the legendary Rakim, in his 1987 track titled … “I Ain’t No Joke”.

“I used to let the mic smoke … now I slam it when I’m done … and make sure it’s broke”.

Since its origin … over 30 years ago, many performers outside the Hip Hop world have copied the move.  My personal favourite … “Coming to America’s” Randy Watson and his band … Sexual Chocolate!

That said, if this role was a microphone … I’d be slamming it down with authority!

One of seven children … J.R. Cash was born in Arkansas on February 26, 1932 and grew up on the family farm. His family made a living working in the cotton fields … a job Johnny was introduced to at the age of 5!

THE ‘SNAKE OIL’ ROLE (OTE: $90,000 – $105,000 USD)

In 1854 … Clark Stanley was born in Abilene, Texas. He claimed that after a decade as a cowboy, he spent two years studying under a Hopi medicine man in Arizona. During his “apprenticeship”, Stanley claimed he was introduced to the unique, medicinal properties of snake oil.

Stanley soon began peddling his own version of Snake Oil Liniment at medicine shows across the Southwestern USA. A consummate showman … Stanley would stand before a gathered crowd … kill a few snakes and mix his potion. The mesmerized onlookers would inevitably open their wallets … paying 50 cents per bottle (equal to $15 in 2018).

He claimed his cure-all treated a laundry list of afflictions … from headaches to arthritis … to sciatica!
The “Rattlesnake King” eventually established production facilities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Short story shorter … in 1917 federal investigators seized a shipment of Stanley’s potion and determined it contained mineral oil, a fatty oil (likely beef fat), red pepper and turpentine … and not a single drop of snake oil!

Stanley was fined $20 for “misbranding” his product as a pain remedy and effectively disappeared from the public eye.

What does this have to do with our current role? Absolutely nothing.

In fact, my client’s offering is the antithesis of “snake oil”. Their solution is the essence of cutting edge … expertly unifying security solutions with the latest in modern technology.

INDUSTRY:     SECURITY MONITORING

SUMMARY:

Our client is a trailblazer in the digital video security monitoring industry.
They offer real-time security video surveillance solutions – and business is booming!

Based from a home office in the Boston area and reporting to the Director, Sales … the Account Executive will prospect, develop networks and secure new client relationships … focusing on permanent, live security surveillance in commercial businesses and remote sites (Live Video Monitoring, CCTV and Access Control)

The ideal candidate is definitely not a snake oil salesman and brings 5-7 years of successful sales experience, with a solid understanding of the condominium, commercial property, digital security or technology space.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prospect for new business opportunities by cold calling, direct marketing & via industry events
Ensure peak penetration by strategically managing their assigned territory
Work with clients to create tailored and effective security offerings
Full sales cycle responsibility through to managing client onboarding and installations
Manage existing client accounts + renewal and maintenance of contracts

REQUIREMENTS:

MUST HAVE: 5 to 7 years of B2B sales experience, selling technical services or products
Proven results as a top performer in sales (ie. President’s Club winner etc.)
Must live in the territory
Driven to exceed sales targets, strong prospecting, relationship building and closing skills
Understands business implications of decisions; demonstrates knowledge of market and competition
BIG PLUS: Experience selling into the multi-residential and/or property management sector

REMUNERATION:

BASE SALARY:  $65,000 – $75,000 (USD)
ON-TARGET VARIABLE: $25,000 – $30,000 (USD) (uncapped)
ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $90,000 – $105,000 (USD)
OTHER: mileage + vacation + phone, laptop + health benefits (medical/dental/vision) + 401K
