“London Calling” was the third studio album by English punk rock band – the Clash.
It was originally released in the United Kingdom in December 1979.
The album contained a song by the same name and was penned by Joe Strummer and Mick Jones.
The title refers to the BBC’s station identification: “This is London calling …”, which was used during World War II, in broadcasts to occupied countries.
The song instantly became the band’s highest charting single until “Should I Stay or Should I Go” reached No. 1 – ten years later.
Many critics and music aficionados consider this song, the band’s best song ever!
